History

In 1991, a team of founders, led by Michael Fairbanks, created the Country Competitiveness (MCC) practice at Monitor Company.

Monitor Company is a Cambridge-based consulting firm started by Michael Porter, Harvard Business School professor and renowned competitive strategy thought leader.

MCC, an internationally recognized leader in its field, worked with governments and business leaders to enhance the international competitiveness of industries and regions with a special emphasis on emerging markets.

In 2000, the OTF Group was established as a spin-out company of Monitor. It is now a privately held company which works to create competitiveness and to build strategic software.

This opportunity was made possible by the support of Monitor Company and by a significant investment from Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, a well-known San Francisco venture capital firm.

Michael Porter continues to be a shareholder at the OTF Group.

For decades, OTF Group members have been leaders of change in more than 35 countries and over 20 industrial sectors, from tourism to consumer packaged goods, from agribusiness to financial services.
