Brian Atwood is the President of Citizens International, a new enterprise offering development services to public and private donors; he promotes competitiveness as the only sustainable solution for developing nations in the new global economy. Atwood served for six years as the Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). He is a frequent lecturer on foreign assistance at Harvard Universitys Kennedy School of Public Policy and is on the boards of the National Democratic Institute, Freedom House, the American Institute, the World Peace Foundation and the Academy for Educational Development, as well as on the Secretary of Energys Advisory Board and its task force on non-proliferation programs in Russia. In April, 2000 the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan appointed Atwood the US representative to a special panel to study UN Peace Operations.
